Instructor Introduction

Hello and Welcome! Untitled

I am excited to start working through this course with you and look forward to meeting everyone over the next week! My name is Michelle Harrison and I am a Senior Instructional Designer, as well as Open Learning Faculty Member, at TRU-Open Learning. I have been an educator for close to 15 years and started my teaching career in K-12, where I taught secondary Math, Science, Information Technology, and Senior Biology in BC as well as in China. I have a BSc in biology from UVIC, MA from Royal Roads, and am a doctoral candidate in the eResearch and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) program at Lancaster University in the UK. I am madly trying to finish my thesis (or dissertation here in Canada) on virtual learning spaces – so you may notice that my mind is on “space” a lot :). My other research interests are in Learning Design and incorporating student perspectives and feedback evaluation into instructional design and teaching practice. My studies have broadened my understanding of the world of Distributed Learning and TEL and I am excited to bring new perspectives to the course. I am also interested in how emerging technologies can help create networked learning opportunities and improve communication and community building. I spent 10 months in 2013/2014 on leave and travelled the world – so am still adjusting to being in one place and time. This winter I am enjoying being back in BC and am also dreaming of skiing – nordic or alpine – so am always on the lookout for snow.

    Hi Michelle,
I am having a big problem. I am taking EDDL 5141 and 5131 at the same time and seem to have only one blog site and it is 5131. I have been trying to figure out how to add the other one but have not gotten there yet.
    any ideas?
    Sue
